Happy President’s Day

Presidents Day was first celebrated in 1800 to honor the birthday of America’s first president the year after he died.

Since then, the federal holiday has evolved from George Washington’s birthday to commemorate the life of Abraham Lincoln, whose birthday was also in February. In later years, it has been noted that former Presidents William Henry Harrison and Ronald Reagan also had February birthdays.

FUN FACT: George Washington’s teeth were not wooden. The mistaken belief that Washington’s dentures were made of wood was widely accepted and appeared as fact in school textbooks until well into the 20th century. The possible origin of this myth is that his brown-stained teeth appeared to observers to be made of wood 😬🪵
