Create your own keepsake plate

Updated: Feb 28, 2019

Draw an image, write a poem, quote song lyrics, write out a recipe, create your own personal message or do something as simple as an personal initial, start a giving plate and pass it around through your family or friends with foods or treats on it, design wedding or shower favors. The possibilities are limitless.

Directions:

Choose the perfect plate, platter, bowl, mug, etc.

(Tip: Some fine china may not withstand the setting process. We recommend porcelain or a heavier material)

Use an appropriate marker. For example, if you will not be using the piece to eat off of or drink from, use a Sharpie. Otherwise, use a Porcelain Marker or Craft Marker to draw your design or message. Visit the craft store and check the package regarding consumption.

(Tip: Use masking tape or stencils for a steadier look)

Set the ink by baking your item in the oven for 30 minutes at 350 degrees for porcelain or oven-proof pieces, or 150 degrees for other materials (Do a Google search for valuable tips out there). Turn the oven off and let cool in the oven.

We have tons of plates, bowls and platters that would be perfect for this simple and meaningful project. Our prices start at $1.00 and most pieces are less than $10.00. An easy and affordable project to create the perfect gift and priceless keepsake. Come visit us!
